R.I.P. Harddrive

This has been an interesting week (to say the least). With the end of my senior year rapidly approaching, it seems like the workload has doubled and the stressload tripled. There is no easy-button for overcoming the challenges of life, and sometimes you just have to swallow that lump in your throat and push onward.

A hard one to swallow however, came this week when my external hard drive (500-GB) dropped 3 feet from the desk to the floor below while I was transferring data. Even though the floor was carpeted, and it only fell a short distance, the hard drive did not survive the impact. All of the data that I worked on for the past 5 years is lost; pictures, documents, video are all gone. The good news is that my prom pictures were saved! I've heard it said that losing a hard drive is a photographers rite-of-passage. If its true that this what it takes, then I made it!! I am choosing not to look back, but continue looking forward and to use this setback as a learning opportunity. Sure, I'll have to re shoot a few gigs, but it will be even better because I have already practiced! I refuse to let this hold me back. After all, as the old saying goes, "There is no use crying over spilled milk".

P.S.
Now would be a GREAT time to backup your hard drive...and don't drop it. ;)
